Sometimes the fast track to reality is a square kick in the junk. By no means was this intended to be a precision program written to close capability margins or extract optimal performance. However, it was meant to serve as the steel-toed boot of humility, striking a solid blow to a region of previous competence. Restructuring the recent offset of assets requires a multiphasic process, one that will pave a new road to progress. This is the beginning of taking a periodized approach to structured training, and applying it to an extensive range of components. The process will require experimentation and adaptive resources, but R&D is “creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, including the knowledge of man, and use this stock of knowledge to devise new applications.”
